The Winter Tradition – Firelight Review + Ticket Competition

How a name change is met often depends on the quality of the first release under the new moniker. The Void decided to make the change to The Winter Tradition recently and should find fans taking to the new name with ease as they have come firing out the traps with first single Firelight.

The contrasts in pace really makes the track, and the way it kicks back in after the chorus stands out as a great moment. It’s definitely one of the best things this group has produced under any name, and the anthemic chorus splits the track perfectly before a hefty finish that was just made for strobes and a hectic crowd. Firelight is a definite forward progression and shows that this is a band with plenty more to come. Details on how to buy Firelight are at the bottom.

In support of Firelight the band are going on tour and Define Pop have been kind enough to give the site some tickets for the Glasgow and Edinburgh shows, which both have loaded line ups.

Sept 2nd – Captain’s Rest, Glasgow – The Winter Tradition + Galleries + Little Yellow Ukuleles

Sept 4th – Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh – The Winter Tradition + LightGuides + Your Neighbour The Liar

To win a pair of tickets for either of these great gigs all you have to do is email favouritesonblog@hotmail.co.uk with the subject ‘Winter Tradition Competition’ and the night you would like to attend.

The competition closes at midnight on Wednesday for Glasgow tickets and 6pm on Friday for Edinburgh tickets. The winners will be announced shortly after.
