Tuesday 28th

Oxjam Launch Gig (Part Two) feat. Keep It Secret + Toy Fires + Debutante + Scarlet Shift + Casino City @ 13th Note, £5

October means Oxjam time and a barrage of events that make it very easy for folk to help out a great cause. This precursor to the month of events should kick things off nicely, and I would expect the upcoming listings to feature a lot of Oxjam events, including a cracker on Sunday (see below) and a gig I’m going to be harassing everyone about at the end of the month. Get involved folks and make sure you check out the Oxjam website for events all over the country.

Thursday 30th

The Glad Cafe + 45-A-Side Records compilation album launch night feat. Dam Mantle + Song Of Return + Barn Owl + Conquering Animal Sound + Detour DJ set @ Stereo, £4, more details here

Fyfe Dangerfield + The Boy Who Trapped The Sun @ Oran Mor

UWS Freshers Festival feat. Sucioperro + The Lafontaines + LightGuides + Make Sparks + Trapped In Kansas + Carnivores + Marvel Heights + Pacific Theatre + White Leaf + Aerials Up + Kitty The Lion + Aspen Tide + more @ Paisley Students Union, £4

It has got to be said that this is quite the event. The line up is amazing and you don’t need to be a student at the uni to head along. You can also download a FREE compilation album of all the bands playing, which has some brilliant stuff on it.

This Is Music + Song, By Toad present Inspector Tapehead (Duress Code album launch) + The Miserable Rich + Stormy Seas @ The Wee Red bar, £5

Friday 1st

French Wives + Male Pattern Band + Foxgang @ Stereo, £4

French Wives are giving away their track Welcome, In The Light if you head over to their myspace page (link above) and click on the banner at the top of the page. I think it is only for today though, so get on it quick.

Be A Familiar (To The Lighthouse album launch) + Endor + Gdansk @ Classic Grand

The Patriots + Pensioner + Innocents Civilian @ Box, FREE

Sunday 3rd

Oxjam feat Super Adventure Club + Bronto Skylift + Carnivores + Campfires In Winter @ Nice N Sleazy, £5

And so it begins. This is the first real standout event of October’s Oxjam, and should be a noisy and excellent night. We have the Scottish Scribbler to thank for putting this together and it is a great way to help out the cause without a Bono in sight. Get down early as the excellent Campfires In Winter are opening.

There is also another Oxjam event following straight on from this in Sleazy’s, which you can find here, which will see a night of Dirty House v Dubstep including Taz Buckfaster.
