This is the second part of Meet My Roster with Andy Lobban from Gerry Loves Records.
In Part 1 Andy talked us through the first half of the bands that have appeared on the label, and you can read that at the link below.
Now he gives an insight into the other seven artists to appear on gerry Loves Records, including the two newest additions. Scroll down for more details on that release, plus the live dates that accompany it.
We saw PAWS support someone at Sneaky Pete’s and I thought it was the best rock show I’d seen in a very long time. I love a band who look like they’re having fun. A lovely bunch of boys who really deserve success if it comes their way. Signed to FatCat now.
These boys share so much in common with PAWS in terms of attitude. Lovely guys who have a great time going wild on stage. Watching Scott play guitar in his boxers is a highlight of any gig and Paul is the best drummer I’ve ever seen.
Jay is the official Conquering Animal Sound tour manager, and we saw him play with a band a couple of years ago and loved his laptop bothering. He is friends with a lot of people we have released, so we did a release with him to stop him feeling left out.
The finest ‘lanky streak of piss’ we know. An integral part of our label in a way. His onstage chat is the best and worst we’ve ever seen. His choice of sports leisurewear is second to none. His face is the possibly the most beautiful we have ever seen.
I’ve seen Drew play live for years and always liked what he does, but got to know him when he supported at a gig on the tour for our first release. A proper gent who has opened my eyes to a lot of amazing folk music and tradition, as well as lots of bad techno those older guys are into.
Rick sings in the Phantom Band, but makes beautiful voice and guitar songs by himself. We saw him support Aidan Moffat a couple of years back and is one of the few singer songwriters that can hold my attention for a whole set. He’s a north east loon with a dislike for Rangers, so we get on well.
I’ve put on gigs involving Adam for a few years, and when we heard his debut solo album we knew we’d love to release something by him. Luckily he was nice enough to say yes. His onstage pushups and dancing have to be seen to be believed.
The Rick Redbeard/Adam Stafford split is out June 25th, but you can pre-order it from the Gerry Loves Records Website now. There are only 300 of them so I’d highly recommend doing this now.
