A big thanks to Jim from Aye Tunes for helping out with the listings this week.
Instore acoustic show at LOVEmusic (Avalanche Records) Glasgow. 5pm start and entry is FREE.
I’ve fancied checking out The Red Show for a while now as their latest batch of tunes have been great, and when better to do it than at a FREE gig. Box is the venue for the night, and while I don’t really know anything about the other acts, music is all about discovery.
Meursault are undoubtably one of Scotland’s finest acts, and this will be my first time seeing them live, which I’m tres excited about. Support comes in the form of US folksters Loch Lomond who are touring the country in support of their Night Bats EP, and the wonderful Jonnie Common, who some may know from Inspector Tapehead. Get your tickets here.
One of Northern Ireland’s finest bands makes the trip across the water to fire out some banging indie post-punk. I havn’t got any word on support, but check the Captain’s Rest website for details.
Great concept night from smALLgReentABLE (Glasgow Podcart), where 4 bands do covers of each others songs, and one from a famous act, to suppliment their own set of originals. Entry is free and it’s BYOB, all you have to do is buy a food voucher at the venue. Great line up for the night again, and free sweets. Deals don’t come much better than that.
Stag And Dagger Festival w/ The Antlers + Unwinding Hours + We Were Promised Jetpacks + Blood Red Shoes
Full preview coming at the beginning of next week, so keep an eye out for that.
For those of you in the Edinburgh this weekend, head to the Voodoo Rooms for the launch night of the new Night Noise Team single. You Won conjures images of being in a stylish Paris nightclub, and has an unashamedly disco feel to it. It’s potent dance inspiration and you will be able to purchase it on Monday, check the site for details. I’m a big fan of The Little Kicks also, so make sure you get down early for them.
An acoustic + alt-folk night, with an ensemble cast in Pivo Pivo. It’s free entry and should have plenty to keep everyone entertained on a Sunday. I don’t know a great deal about the line up, but Craig davidson sounds great from what I’ve heard so far and it should be interesting to hear Nevada Base stripped down from their usual electro leanings- if that is what is happening.
