Skies Fell are a band that I’m expecting big things from. Most bands take a while to find themselves and get going but not this one. The first thing they did was release the outstanding Contest and now they have followed it up with Statues (below).

Statues has cemented my thoughts and displays a varied and distinct approach to post rock. This genre is all about the night and day of songs and that is what the band do so well. Skies Fell have a knack for wonderful melodies and the contrast between the edgy, angled guitars and spirited blown up sections bring everything to life.

You can download Statues for FREE by going to the band’s bandcamp where you will also be able to pick up three other tunes for zilch.

The first Skies Fell Glasgow show will be at The Arches on October 23rd and you can get free tickets by filling out a few quick details. If the output so far is anything to go by then it would be daft not to grab a freebie for this night, and you never know it might be one of those ‘I was there’ moments.
