Favourite Son and Oxjam Present

Posted on October 12, 2010

Oxjam is well and trully underway and I thought it about time I tell folk about an event I’m organising at the end of the month.

You can buy tickets for £4 now, or pay £5 on the door.

Go to the Facebook Event Page and invite your friends.

I’m stoked with the line up, and think we’ve got some of the best unsigned bands in the country playing. They are all from a different musical stance and this should help make it a an eclectic night with some brilliant tunes getting played and hopefully some good money being made for this great cause.

Expect to hear some more about the bands on the blog in the lead up to the event, but in the meantime here’s a bit more about who’s playing:

The Winter Tradition

“Pretty darn special, So many amazing new rock bands emerging from this little nation of ours right now and that is a fine example” – Jim Gellatly, XFM Scotland
“Big, swooping indie always has a place on the UtR stereo and quickly becoming regulars on our shamefully beat-up tape deck. Both anthemic and anathemic, the Glasgow/Edinburgh ensemble produce effervescent, guitar driven totems tinged with sleek college rock production.” – The Scotsman, Under The Radar

Nevada Base

“…one of Scotland’s hottest new bands” – Heaven or Las Vegas
“…beautifully crafted electro pop, think Erland Oye and you are on the right track. ‘If I’m Late’ and ‘Love On My Mind’ are crying out to be played at clubs and will no doubt be featuring on a late night compilation at some point.” – MusicInGlasgow

” Extraordinary..” – Tom Robinson, BBC6 Music
“Uncategorisable….fucking art rock weirdness! Brilliant! Wilfully unpredicatable, obtuse and sexy” – Sean, glasgowpodcART.com

The Clyde

“Listening to this has put a massive smile on my face…Love it” – Jim Gellatly
“Absolutely immense songs are what you get from The Clyde” – bandinabox.tv

Expect fundraisers on the evening with the chance to win some great prizes.
