Panda Su answered the questions for Recommended #10 meaning Luke Joyce a.k.a. I Build Collapsible Mountains is up this time.

Who are you recommending? and why?

I am recommending Penguins Kill Polar Bears. They are the best band to come on the scene for quite some time in my opinion. There is no other band around i would happily go an see night after night.

How would you describe the music?

Their music harks back to when music got me excited, but they are bringing it back with their own stamp. They, as i, kneel at the temple of the Smashing Pumpkins. There is some audible influence there – maybe that’s what got the initial hook. But theres also some other references there, ranging from heavier rock through to post rock. The perfect combination of these various sounds makes for a band that i foresee sweeping their peers aside as they go on to greater things.

How did you discover this band/artist?

I played with PKPB at my first show under the I Build Collapsible Mountains name. It was at the wee red bar and Trapped In Kansas were on the bill also so it was a good night for new musical discoveries.

How would you describe the live experience?

One of PKPBs best attributes is the energy they manage to sustain on stage from beginning to end. The passion and belief they have for their music is obvious and they always make you feel like your witnessing something really special every time you catch a show.

If you had to suggest one of their songs to start someone off with what would it be?

Homebound (below). This track appeared on their Dawn EP. It was an instant favorite and still takes a regular play. There are tracks on their upcoming EP entitled Vessels & Veins which may creep up my favorites list, but Homebound was the mind blowing introduction i will always remember.

A big thanks to I Build Collapsible Mountains for the recommendation.
