Recommended #13 Carson Wells by Your Neighbour The Liar

Posted on April 1, 2011

Penguins Kill Polar Bears were on duty for Recommended #12 meaning they pass the baton to Your Neighbour The Liar this week.

Who are you recommending? and why?

We’re recommending a great band called Carson Wells from Aberdeen. We’ve seen them play a few times and they’ve always been brilliant. It seems weird that we’ve yet to play with them.

How would you describe the music?

They’re a post hardcore band with strained shouted vocals, twiddly guitar parts and lots of passion. They remind us of bands like Sinaloa and Sharks Keep Moving.

How did you discover this band?

We first saw them playing a This is our Battlefield gig at 13th Note in Glasgow alongside Algernon Cadwallader and we were really impressed.

How would you describe the live experience?

They all seem to really enjoy what they do and it makes for a pretty intense show. When a song finishes they awkwardly chat before going back into the next, which adds to the live experience.

If you had to suggest one of their songs to start someone off with what would it be?

Every song on their EP is great but Picasso on Contradiction (below) is probably the best place to start showing off everything the band is about in less than a minute and a half. Their whole EP is up for up for streaming from bandcamp and well worth a listen.

A big thanks to Your Neighbour The Liar for the recommendation.

Keep up to date and get FREE downloads of the band on the Carson Wells Bandcamp.
