Betatone Distraction answered some questions for Recommended #22 meaning it’s now the turn of the band they chose, Kochka.
Who are you recommending? and why?
No Island. These guys are fairly recently on the scene and proving to be working hard and playing alot through Glasgow and Edinburgh, and already building up a fan base. They pretty much got an EP together and out there instantly, set up an online store for T-shirts and CD’s, and already received natioal radio play. A band to keep your eye on in the next 12 months.
How would you describe the music?
Its somewhere, somewhere, in the middle of math rock, hardcore, noisecore splendidness. Yeah I’m going with that.
How did you discover this band/artist?
Its the usual stopping zones I’m afraid with this one; friends and friends of friends, Facebook events and general chit chat in the Glasgow ether. I know Ryan the bass player whom I worked with a wee while back – check out his bass face when you get a chance. Enough said for now.
How would you describe the live experience?
Well this is one of the central reasons for recommending these guys. The live show is simply a must. It’s superb with enormous energy. Any band that can play 14 songs in 11 minutes gets my vote. Get to the next live show!
If you had to suggest one of their songs to start someone off with what would it be?
Well I can go one better! Get over to their Bandcamp and get the EP for free. Can’t say fairer than that, and you can blast through the entire 5-track EP in under 5 minutes!
A big thanks to Kochka for the Recommendation.
